Seductive depths, shameless hooks, unimpressed freshness, spiced with equal parts emotions, partying and personality….
I’ve always had a weak spot for the good pop song, so my musical output has often alternated between experimental and pop – and everything in between.
Pop Missiles is an outlet for the bright, catchy song ideas that pop up regularly during my experiments and general fiddling around. I keep these in a logging system, and they can be brought up whenever inspiration strikes.
Previously I had been taking these pop ideas, and turned them into calm and mellow songs, sung by myself, and released under my own name “Ranum” . The result is more indie than pure pop. You can check this in the Ranum Solo area.
But many existing an new songs also exist in a more pure pop version, featuring a range of different vocalists. Pop Missiles is the area designated for that.
Earlier it was common that studio musicians created studio single hits with singers that happened to pass by. And the idea of non-performing bands has been tried in various configurations – e.g. like Damon Albarns brilliant “Gorillaz”. Today the world is quite accustomed to projects that are not following established paths.
The general musical headline for Pop Missiles is obviously mainstream pop – current music, with nods to the classic pop single song format.
Pop Missiles takes inspiration from a great variety of pop artists and producers from all ages – ABBA, Blondie, Depeche Mode, Boney M, Cardigans, Devo, Human League, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Goldfrapp, Giorgio Moroder just to name a few.
