The Spielberg Incident

I have had a few incidents that made me wonder “Where it did that come from”?

One such incident was the production of an international Nokia commercial (“Connecting People” – remember?), that was linked to the launch of a new Steven Spielberg movie – “Minority report” – featuring Tom Cruise.

Via a Danish agency – DanesAdWork – that handled the graphics and video post for the spot, I was asked to do a demo voice over, so they could time the editing to that. Small job like so many others.

After some time the phone rang again. I was informed that my voice had just been approved by Steven Spielberg and I was to be featured on the international Nokia spot. “Only Tom Cruise also needs to approve you first. He will hear it on Thursday”, the voice continued. And then Thursday I was informed that Tom Cruise had approved of it too, and so it became.

The spots aired in 43 countries, complete with the well-known payoff – “Nokia. Connecting people”.
